I am a social psychologist (PhD) specialized in how people experience the use of digital devices and services. Currently, I work as a Senior Service Designer at Futurice and I also teach new modes of thinking at the Open University.
Before joining Futurice I worked with multidisciplinary teams on a range of topics related to user experience (the academic publications are listed here). That work resulted also in my PhD The Social Mediation of Everyday User Experiences which I succesfully defended in December 2015.
Alongside research I have done quite a bit of teaching, advising, and talking on topics related to social psychology and user experience. Last fall I gave talks for example at Tubecon and Slush. Recently my work has been featured especially in the Finnish-speaking media (see for example Yle, Taloussanomat and Tekniikka & Talous).
My passion is to turn complexity into accessibility and to design services that are sustainable in every way possible. In terms of research I’m fascinated about boredom and intimacy in mediated contexts.
My previous affiliations include Futurice, the Department of Social Research, Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT, and BIT Research Center.
